| Obituary: W. J. Shannon Had Lived on Same Farm 50 Years. Will J. Shannon, whose death occurred Saturday morning, at 5:40, had lived on the same farm, three miles north of Wellsville, for fifty years, since 1882, when he came to Kansas from Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Shannon. He had not been well for about three weeks. A week before his death he suffered a stroke, which affected his side. Death was caused by cerebral apoplexy. Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church at Edgerton Monday afternoon, and burial was in the Shannon family plot in the Edgerton cemetery. Old neighbors acted as pallbearers: H. H. Hays, Joe Hughes, Jules Mignot, Wave Rhoades, Jack Shay and C. W. Skinner. Mr. Shannon was born in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania March 11, 1864. There were five children in the family. A brother, Charles, and a sister Mazie Stonebraker, have passed on. He is survived by two brothers, O. P. Shannon and Harry Shannon of Wellsville, and one sister Mrs. Carrie Dwyer, of Allen, Kansas. | |||||||||||||
